Hello, Lovelies!
Jacquemus designs always give me the right amount of zest and individuality without pretension. These past few years have made me more appreciative of who I am as an individual. I have also become more passionate about the things that I care about the most such as Family, Fashion and Life in general.
I believe in living a great life now but I also believe in leaving something good, a legacy behind for the next generations. My experiences around the World have taught me that living a meaningful Life is not about winning everytime. Sometimes, it is OK to loose and learn so the people who come after us, may have a better chance at winning!
Traveling abroad and living on many continents have made me pushed more boundaries that I could have never pushed, had I spent all my life in one place or one continent. I’m always inspired by the people, the landscape, the food, the culture and the fashion everywhere I go. And surprisingly, yes surprisingly all these experiences make me more appreciative of my own culture, the African culture. Africa has never been a shit hole place and it would never be. Yes, I have developed a deeper appreciation for humanity but this has also made me more selective about the kind of people I allow in my energy circle. I may never reach all my goals in life but one thing is for sure I will always stay true to who I am.
Today I went to see the movie Black Panther and the all female military regiment reminded me of “les Amazones” in Benin that my mother used to talk about when I was young. You can read more here. These were real women from my region who fearlessly fought for their men and their kingdom. One thing that stroked me while watching the movie was their loyalty to the throne in good times as in bad times.
Women have always been powerful in the African society where I have never heard of “Feminism” being a derogatory thing. Women have always fully participated in the society, not only by giving birth but by also protecting lives and by putting food on the table(google “Mama BENZ”). This makes me think that If all the women who came before us(our generation) always stayed in their lanes, our generation for example wouldn’t even have the simple right to vote today. You and I couldn’t be living this life in our own terms. There are many more examples of achievements that our generation takes for granted. As women, it is important to speak up against current social issues when you have to, even if the outcome doesn’t directly benefit you. And always remember to do it in Style.
Talking about style, I chose this blue satin Jacquemus top because most of his designs make me think of strong women, women who stand out, women who live life in their own terms. I hope you like it as much as I do.
