Hello, Friends!
Back in those days, when I was taking a geopolitical class at a Business school where I learned about Malaysia for the first time, I never thought that I will be living here in Malaysia. But many years later, I found myself living here. The man of my life who is a traveler made the decision to move to Asia and as a supportive wife, I knew I had to follow him wherever he decided to go and that just what I did.
However back then, I didn’t think about my being from a different culture as a problem in Asia(blame it on my African upbringing where we see everyone as equal). When I came to Malaysia, I was very excited and eager to meet new local people and discover new places. Things didn’t go exactly how I planned but I can’t complain because at least, I have discovered so many new places and I have culturally enriched myself. Discovering a new place is just what I did over these past few days. For Spring Break, my family and I went away to a private Island called Pangkor Laut off the coast of Malaysia. It was beautiful, very green and very relaxing. It may sound funny but I’m one of those wives who are happy to see their husband enjoying himself on family trips. I’m sure many of you whom husband works so hard can relate to that. This trip was also my first time seeing a hornbill up close. It was amazing and I will share photos of the Island in another post under Lifestyle and Travel category in the next few days. So stay tuned!
I’m wearing this beautiful maxi dress with delicate embroidery from Needle & Threads. This dress has been in my closet since August but to be honest, my life as an expat wife is quite simple and I don’t often have reason to get all dressed up. In the past when I first started blogging, I will style some looks for my blog but since I have discovered that being a Black blogger in Malaysia isn’t the ideal situation to have opportunities, I don’t feel inspired as much as I used to. I mean, what the point if you are passionate about something but you feel limited because you are a foreigner where you live? All you can do is to take it easy and appreciate the things that you are already blessed with! Personally, I feel fortunate to have a very loving family. But who wouldn’t?
Thank you for stopping by!
