If you follow me on INSTAGRAM, then you probably knew that I was recently in Singapore. If you are planning a trip to Singapore, this is the post you need to read. In this post, I’m going to talk about Singapore with a comprehensive City guide.
The energy of Singapore is vibrant, fast and cosmopolitan. The first thing that you’ll notice when visiting Singapore is how clean this city is. The vibe you get is simply amazing and the crowd is representative of Metropolitan cities. This is the only country in Asia where I haven’t seen or heard of bag snatchers. Yes, it is that safe!
Like most Southeast Asia countries, Singapore was hot but much more breathable during our stay with a little breeze. The weather was just perfect enough for my girls to enjoy the pool with our friends whom we haven’t seen in five years.
EAT
Our first meal was at Spago restaurant located at the top of Marina Bay Sands. Nice dining space but it was very windy. Try their mini burgers or their caesar salad.
The good thing about visiting a country where your friends live is that they show you a side of the town less known to the tourists. Our Friends Meg and Angus who live in Singapore, took us to dinner in a restaurant called Loco which is a favorite among the locals. It is located in Robertson Quay, a pier near the source of Singapore River. The food was excellent. Loco is the perfect laid back outdoor setting for our two families with five kids to dine . The corn on stick is a must!
Another great dining experience was at Dempsey hill which is arguably one of the hottest dining destinations in Singapore. My husband was taken there once before during a business and as always, he wanted to take the girls and I. After a quick drive and we ended up at the famous Dempsey Hill where we had lunch at Margarita. The beef fajita was excellent. I’m not a huge fan of red meat but the beef fajita was so fresh that I ended up sharing with my daughter. There are many restaurants, shops and an Art Gallery in Dempsey Hill. This is a place to visit.
VISIT:
*Marina Bay Sand: This is undoubtedly one of the most photographed building in the Southeast Asia. We stayed in this hotel before changing to Marriott on Orchard Road. Beautiful ultra modern architecture, however it was so busy. We couldn’t really enjoy as much as we thought the infinity pool. It was so windy up there. The pool was cold and crowded. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful experience.
*Orchard Road is definitely my favorite road in Singapore. It is so vibrant! I like the crossroad cafe between Orchard Rd and Scott Rd.
*CHIJMES is also a must if you are in Singapore.
TO DO:
>The ZOO was on our things to do list. The night Zoo is very popular among tourists and locals.
>Shopping: They are many shops and malls along Orchard Road and at Marina Bay Sands. All the major designers at present in Singapore. However, Chinatown is always a good destination for budget friendly shopping .
>Wheel Singapore Flyer: You will get the best view of the city from this giant ferry wheel.
>The Gardens by the Bay: Probably the best man made garden I have ever seen. I recommend you to bring your sweater as it can be a bit cold inside. Everything at the Gardens by the bay from the Architecture to the selection of orchids is just perfect. It is absolutely a must!
