For the rest of Summer, my family and I will be spending time travelling thru Italy. Our first stop is Rome the eternal city. This city has the power to make you feel alive and to awaken your senses as you walk its streets and discover all the goodness: food, people, history. You can’t help but being struck by its beauty.
*Piazza Navona*
*The Pantheon*
*The Spanish Steps*
*The Colosseum*
Despite the hot weather in the month of july and the big number of tourists, it is quite interesting to listen carefully to our guide as she tells us the history of the Colosseum which size is colossal. I am a big dreamer but the size of the Colosseum make everything I could have ever dreamt of feel so tiny, so little. I was struck by the Colosseum.
Our touring day ended here at the Piazza del Popolo where we had a fantastic lunch. From freshly made ravioli to mouth watering ice cream. The Italian food is so delicious, so inviting that it deserves a picture as they say a picture speaks thousand words. The Rosati at the Piazza del Popolo is one of many the restaurants worth visiting while in Roma. The food at the Quirino restaurant near the very famous Fountain di Trevi was fantastic as well, our favorite was the grilled artichoke. As my adventure continues, I will be posting as often as I can here on this blog.
Yesterday was another majestic day in Rome and we set out to see the Vatican. While I still can’t get my mind around the immense size of the Colosseum, next thing I knew we were walking thru the Saint Peter’s square and saw the immensely grandiose Vatican.
The heat was unbearable and we could not see everything we set out to see before jumping in a Taxi and heading to my favorite Piazza Navona where we lunched at the oldest restaurant on the place: Panzirone created in 1900.
The Italians are friendly people and the staff at the Panzirone restaurant was no exception which is why we came back again here to lunch. Today is our last day in Rome before we head to the Amalfi coast. Overall, the first part of Italian adventure was fun and I’m looking forward to leaving Rome hotel to experience a beach house in Amalfi coast.
