Being authentic is being honest with you my readers and today I want to talk about restyling what you have in your closet. Don’t get me wrong, I honestly believe that one needs to update one’s closet regularly in order to maintain a fresh style. But it has become clear that willingly or unwillingly we fashionbloggers can make life look like a fairytale by wearing all these clothes only once. Today, I want to let you know that you don’t need to stress yourself all the time to stay stylish and trendy. Yes, you read it well: you don’t need to constantly shop to be considered stylish, matter of fact restyling can give you a lot more room for creativity. Let’s just admit that real life is not always a fairytale and restyling is so good to the soul!
However there are few rules:
1- always add one or two pièces from new collection to your closet each season! This allows you to put together looks that are still fresh by mixing old from your closet with new pieces from the current season/collection.
2- always have in your closet few pieces or designs that are timeless. By timeless pieces I mean those fashion pieces that you can wear constantly year after year without never being out of fashion. These pieces are investment pieces and they are usually pricey – they cost more at purchase- but so worthy because you can use them year after year or even pass them on to your children or resell them. For example, my Lady Dior bag that I’m wearing in this post is timeless and always fashionable, therefore it has a resell value.
Since we are celebrating International Women’s Day today I’ve decided to add a touch of pink to my outfit. Pink is the perfect feminine touch to add to my look that I’ve created by restyling few pieces from my closet.
I’m so proud to be a woman even if it hasn’t been always easy which is why I believe that we can always use more authentic sisterhood. Nowadays too many women talk about sisterhood but don’t have what it takes to really stand behind and support other women or don’t reciprocate. Sometimes even if you support them, follow their page, like and comment on their photos, they still can’t do the same to you because they are too busy comparing your travels, clothes and lifestyle to their lifestyle. Or worse they follow you and you follow them back, you comment and show genuine support but they don’t even like or stop liking your photos. What’s the point? I rather not follow at all than give you a fake support. Someone like me can’t fake anything, if I’m with you then rest assured that I’m with you all the way and that ‘s exactly why I have to protect my energy.
We tend to forget that we all have different lifestyle and destiny before joining Instagram. There’s always going to be a woman that is prettier, taller, skinnier or richer than you so why compare? That’s why it is important to have a strong sense of self, a self-love so big that no amount of material possessions, beauty, travel, beauty, or wealth of other women makes you feel hateful or jealous. Be fair to yourself and fair to them! At the end of the day, beautiful or not, rich or not, pretty or not, we all want the same thing: happiness!
I started my Instagram journey in 2013 (even though I have deleted all my photos from 2013) and I have had my fair share of challenges. However I have to admit that if this Instagram journey and my real life experiences have taught me a lesson, it is that we women still have a long way to go in term of sisterhood. There is room for all of us and when we women always make sure that all of us get a seat at the table regardless of our lifestyle, race, shape and size, only then we can become stronger together and create a better World for our children. To all women dreamers, chase your dreams and don’t stop until you’re proud! Happy International Women’s Day!
