Hello, Loves!

Clothes won’t change the World but the women who them will! What do you fashionistas think about the current scandal regarding Mira Duma and the designer Ulyana Sergeenko use of a racist word? One thing is for sure, the time has come when we fashionistas of all backgrounds need to reevaluate who we decide to put on a pedestal. We need to reevaluate who we look up to. Personally, I have two beautiful young girls who look up to me. I have my daughters watching me and one of my responsibilities is to teach them self-love. I have realized very early on that their self-love will come in part from loving both white and black people. They have both heritages and my goal is to raise them in a loving environment with zero tolerance for hate of any kind.
I am a Mother on a mission, a woman standing in her truth. Always stand in your truth even if your truth is not everyone’s truth and even if you are not popular. You are allowed to be different. And in this era of social media, always remember that “who you look up to online helps you determine your self-worth”. It is ok to look up to people who don’t look like you but it is not ok to look up to people who never include or celebrate people who look like you. In the long run, your self-worth will undeniably suffer. It is also not ok to look up to influencers and companies that denigrate and dehumanize other human beings by being racists. Live a fabulous life but always remember to be hate free because the good life is the one inspired by Love.
